Will these searches
be confidential?
Absolutely! You are guaranteed the strictest level of confidentiality.
Any and all discussions will remain between J.C. Wilson Associates
and your search committee.
What does “off-limits”
mean?
When a client organization and a search firm sign a recruiting agreement
for multiple searches (i.e. not just one), the search firm will
often agree to put that organization off-limits and will not recruit
senior executives from that company for a year or sometimes longer.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes, we guarantee our work for 24 months. If a candidate is released
by the client company for performance-related issues during the
first 24 months of his/her employment, J.C. Wilson Associates will
conduct a new search to replace the candidate for no additional
retainer (i.e. charging only for expenses as incurred).
How does the fee
payment schedule work?
Corporate clients retain executive search firms and boutiques to
recruit suitable candidates for senior-level jobs. The estimated
fee for this service is normally based upon one-third of the successful
candidate’s total cash compensation in the first full year
of employment. (Total cash compensation includes base salary, anticipated
or guaranteed performance bonus, and any sign-on bonus.) The retainer
fee will be invoiced in three equal installments.
The first retainer installment is due upon
receipt of the client’s signed contract. Billings for the
second and third installments will be rendered 30 days and 60 days,
respectively, after this date. In addition to our professional fees,
J.C. Wilson Associates is also reimbursed for any direct, out-of-pocket
expenses such as candidate and consultant travel, lodging, videoconferencing,
and allocated communications and administrative costs. These will
be billed on a monthly basis as incurred.
When the search is complete, the final fee
will be calculated based on the successful candidate’s first
full year’s compensation plus any bonuses (less retainers
already paid by the client).
Do you specialize
in certain industries?
Our cumulative recruiting experience has ranged across numerous
industries including advanced technology, financial services, biotech,
healthcare, telecommunications, hospitality, retail and engineering/construction.
Our narrow functional and industry focus is designed to offer the
client specialist knowledge, better candidate quality, and greater
speed to completion.
How long does the
average search take to complete?
Given the extensive interview sequence and client/candidate travel
interruptions, the entire process for an average search will take
J.C. Wilson Associates approximately two to three months to complete.
Two little known facts: the five largest search firms average four
to six months to complete a typical search, and successfully complete
only 60 to 75 percent of their total searches in the U.S. Our staffing
model is designed to significantly improve these statistics for
the benefit of the client.
What is your average
volume of searches?
A boutique philosophy of quality – not volume – means
we take on comparatively fewer (no more than five at a time) searches
per Partner. By contrast, partners at large search firms are encouraged
(and paid) to handle from 10 to as many as 30 assignments at a given
time. We believe our approach positively affects quality and speed
to the benefit of the client.
What does “parallel
process” mean?
Due to smaller candidate pools arising from significant client “off-limits”
restrictions, partners at some large firms will “parallel
process” (i.e. share) the same candidates for more than one
search at the same time. J.C. Wilson Associates will never do that.
Who
actually executes the search?
There is NO “bait and switch” at our firm. A
Partner well-seasoned in business, not a junior associate, does
the work (especially candidate calling) on a search. From experience,
we believe that high-level candidates react more positively to extremely
knowledgeable recruiters, especially in the critical “first
discussion.” |
